"DI-PHRAGMATIC RESONANCE"

11-14 March, 2024

This installation was held at the London College of Communication University building as part of a work-in-progress show that allowed 3rd year Sound Art students to showcase their works.

This piece showcases an unconventional listening hardware made from cardboard. The panels excite sound with an immersive quality, filling the room more evenly compared to the conventional cone driver.

The two satellite speakers in the foreground are connected to a cassette recorder playing a tape loop without a recording on it. This symbolism is meant to pose a criticism toward conventional listening hardware.

The nature of listening is highly complex, and there are numerous different behaviours within it. The technology of a cone driver is not capable of catering towards all the different listening modes, so there must be experimentation within this field.

"SONY TC-133 SPEAKER MOD"

14 February, 2023

This was a relatively quick project with the aim to modify the appearance of this SONY TC-133 cassette recorder/player from the 70s that I found on EBay for £50. Originally it came with two passive 4W 8Ω speakers that can be attached to the recorder/player via hooks. This creates an interesting aesthetic, but I was discouraged by the original look, because I'd like to see the recorded/player when it's in this 'suitcase-mode'.

With the help of the 3D and laser-cutting facilities at LCC, I was able to precision cut two scrap acrylic sheets, and engrave my logo into it for the finishing touch, so the entire device became more visually pleasing.

"STEREO TIMEFLOW"

9-12 February, 2023

At Gallery 46 in Whitechapel, as 2nd year students of the Sound Arts BA at LCC, we organised an exhibition titled: "NOW and THEN and NOW". This was an interesting opportunity to showcase my work for the first time.

The piece consists of a wooden double pendulum with bearings attached to the floor board where a cassette tape loop could run along. This tape loop would then enter back into the cassette recorder and play back its own sound. On the very end of the double pendulum arm, a magnet would be attached so that when a visitor swings the pendulum, the magnet interferes with the loop, thus creating a chaotic self-destructive tape loop.

"STRAYER" - Prototype Instrument

24 November, 2022

At the end of 2022, I created an original hand harp titled STRAYER. However, this is still a prototype and I am intending to keep working on this project when things clear up a bit.

I believe that pushing the conventions of what instruments are is essential in the music industry, as creating new sounds is like discovering a new species of animal.

To stay open-minded about the possibilities of creating acoustic and electronic sound is a practice that should allow the artist to regard sound, music and art in a free manner.
